Condemnation appraisals are a unique type of
appraisal, requiring specialized training and years of experience.
William C. Forrest MAI, ASA has been
involved in condemnation appraisals for over 30 years. Past experience
has included both staff and fee appraiser positions for state
highway departments in Mississippi and Texas respectively. You need
an experienced appraiser along with an experienced attorney.
The best way to mitigate
your problems when being condemned by a local, state or federal
agency is to talk to someone who understands your problems and the
procedures used by the condemnation authorities. When the appraiser
for the governmental agency calls, please call us first so we can
meet with you and with them before things get out of hand.
The largest project to be let in Texas for many years is the widening
of IH-10 West. This project will take at least 10 years to complete.
